Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is likely to play in the reminder matches of the ongoing super six phase of the Dhaka Premier League for Legends of Rupganj. Therefore, he will return to Dhaka from the USA on Wednesday night.

On Tuesday, a club official confirmed that Shakib Al Hasan is expected to play for Legends of Rupganj in the remaining games of the ongoing Dhaka Premier League.

‘Yes, Shakib is expected to play for Legends of Rupganj; therefore, he is returning from the USA tomorrow night. However, we are not sure about the exact date of his play. Maybe in the next game, maybe in the subsequent,’ told the official.

The southpaw, who Mohammedan Sporting Club for this season retained, couldn’t play in the league phase due to the South Africa series alongside family issues. He had to fly to the USA following his return from South Africa after the conclusion of this one-day series.

He was expected to play for the side from the super league phase but eventually failed due to the exit of the black and whites from the round-robin phase.

Following their exit from the contention, Legends of Rupganj, who have qualified in the super six-round, has offered Shakib to play for them obeying the league’s by-laws, which the southpaw didn’t deny.

‘Rupganj had offered Shakib to play for them as per the by-laws, and he responded positively.’

Shakib Al Hasan had a sterling series against South Africa in the ODIs, where he earned three wickets along with 95-runs in three matches.

He had returned to Dhaka soon after the conclusion of the series to be alongside his family as they had been undergoing various diseases. Still, Bangladesh team management didn’t rule him out of the Test series against the Proteas.

The left-hander was expected to take part in the second Test at Port Elizabeth but eventually couldn’t as he had to fly to the USA with family as his daughters’ school had been opened.

Spain, Italy, and United States among qualifiers

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board airport coordinator confirmed that the 34-year-old is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday night.
