On Sunday, April 17, Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Monte Carlo Masters 2022 final by 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) points to defend his title.
Some players find it difficult to play on the clay court. Understanding and controlling the court is a bit hard here. Not everyone can dominate the court. But the Greek star Tsitsipas seems to be very good on clay court.
He can play amazing tricks on his enemies on the clay court and make them the court. Tsitsipas this ability helped him last night to win the Monte Carlo Masters 2022. He has a total of four trophies from clay-court winning.
Monte-Carlo Masters was the first clay-court tournament of this season. Lots of players came here with hearts full of hope. And Tsitsipas took away the trophy in front of everyone. It’s his eighth ATP title-winning and a win after 11 months.
12 months before now, Tsitsipas was on the same spot. The last time he played against Andrey Rublev. Tsitsipas join with Rafael Nadal, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Thomas Muster, and Bjorn Borg who have managed to win Monte Carlo Masters back to back.
Davidovich Fokina was optimistic about the Monte Carlo Masters 2022. He thought of making great achievements with the 2022 clay court open. After defeating the former number one and world’s most powerful tennis star Djokovic in the opening round, everyone thought Fokina would go long in the Monte Carlo Masters 2022. He did manage to reach the final but failed to seize the victory from Tsitsipas.
After making the first strike, Fokina showed little chance of dominating the game. But that didn’t go on for long, and Tsitsipas hit straight back with a magnificent forehand up the line to level the first set at 2-2. Tsitsipas finished the game just in one hour and 36 minutes.
After winning the Monte Carlo Masters 2022, Tsitsipas says, “I am very proud of myself. Things weren’t going well at one point, but I managed to stay composed to finish the match off. I am proud of the belief I put in my game. Sometimes you doubt yourself, but it is always important to keep your head high.”
He goes on and said, “He[Davidovich Fokina] fought in moments I didn’t expect him to fight. He can hit incredible winners out of nowhere and play unpredictably. But I was able to minimize that. I knew he would be a dangerous opponent but that is a great win for me. I think we will see great results from him in the future.”
StefanosTsitsipas’s next destination:
Tsitsipas manage to make a great start to the 2022 clay-court season with the winning 2022 Monte Carlo Masters 2022 back to back. This win will surely keep him in a great vibe for the upcoming tournaments.
Tsitsipas’ next plan is to win the French Open. The last time he reached the French Open final but lost the game to Djokovic. But there will be a lot of other boss players in the French Open and winning the tournament over them will be hard for Tsitsipas.
