Former UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg gave the reasons for her loss to Amanda Nunes in their 2018 meeting.
Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes, two of the best fighters in MMA history, faced off in the co-main event of UFC 232.
Few expected the fight to last only 51 seconds. But Nunes quickly closed the deal by defeating Cyborg by TKO in the 1st round.
Four years later, Cyborg still seems to regret this defeat. The Brazilian recently published a tweet to explain how she felt during this mythical evening.
“I think all the emotions accumulated after being sidelined by the UFC for 9 months. Changing managers, and discovering that the location of the fight had been moved from Vegas to L.A. made me fight too aggressively and abandon my strategy.
But, this fight has made me a better fighter and woman today. “Cyborg wrote.
This loss marked the end of her reign in the UFC, as she fought only once in the organization.
Cyborg eventually signed for Bellator. There she became featherweight champion in the first fight for promotion. She put Julia Budd on the mat in the 4th round. Since then, the native of Curitiba has defended her title 4 times.
