Jiri Prochazka talked about his upcoming light heavyweight title fight against Glover Teixeira in his last media outing.
While the reigning champion, Glover Teixeira, is preparing for a real war against Jiri Prochazka, the Czech arrives at this meeting without any real pressure.
With a record of 28-3 in MMA, he has the opportunity at 29 to win his first belt in the UFC. A rare thing for a fighter who is only in his third fight in the organization.
Prochazka knows what he must do to cause problems for the veteran Teixeira.
He must, according to him, change his style and adapt throughout the fight if he wants to have a chance to lift the belt.
Interviewed yesterday on BJPenn Radio, Prochazka once again testified to his impatience to be in the octagon:
“When I entered the UFC, I told my team that we wanted to fight for the title as soon as possible. I keep my word, that’s all.”
“I’m excited about this fight, and I respect him because he’s a normal guy, a real warrior.
He got the belt at his age, and he beat a lot of guys and won a lot of fights against young guys, strong guys.
It’s unbelievable. Especially the victories of Smith and Santos, who are the fittest guys, proved that he was a real champion.
But it’s my time, and I know it’s my time, and I just have to do my things and my strategy. I’m going to show that I’ve evolved since my last fight.”
Determined and respectful of his opponent, the Czech nevertheless forgets the objective of going to lift the belt at the end of this fight.
He will have to make the perfect fight because Glover Teixeira will not let himself be easily taken his belt.
