Buccaneers win over Cowboys

The defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers has defeated the Dallas Cowboys in the opening game of the NFL season.

Heading to halftime, both teams backed up their offseason promises of being a champion, at least from the offensive view. On one hand, Prescott who had been suffering from a fractured ankle last October and a strained shoulder this July had to rest the most of August. Brady also threw his share of haymakers but got caught in a web of unexpected Cowboys takeaways. That’s how Dallas has been trying to improve for years now.

The kick was set up with a back-shoulder throw from Tom Brady to Chris Godwin. It was for 24 yards and had 18 seconds to play. It allowed Godwin to Atone with a huge scrabble around that was the provocation for a drive that Dallas turned into its late lead.

After the first quarter, the Buccaneers, the scoreline was a tie, Buccaneers 7-7 Cowboys. Prescott, the Cowboys QB made a seven-play, 75-yard drive to equal the score late in the first quarter.  Prescott could find Michael Gallup three times on this series, but CeeDee Lamb made up for his earlier drop.

At halftime, the Buccaneers were ahead of the cowboys. The scoreline was: Buccaneers 21-16 Cowboys. Tampa Bay didn’t record a sack until the drive, but the Buccaneers finally broke through by Shaquil Barrett. Prescott on third down left Greg Zuerlein got a holding penalty and 1-yard scramble, This allowed them to attempt a 60-yard field goal which came up short. Tom Brady’s attempt was intercepted by Jourdan Lewis, who returned it past midfield but was taken down by offensive guard Ali Marpet.

At the end of the third quarter, the teams were very close to each other. The buccaneers were only two points ahead, Buccaneers 28-26 Dallas. Dallas was holding the game very tightly. S soon as the play began, Amari Cooper almost had Ross Cockrell beaten. He cooked the corner for a 21-yard touchdown, with a nice delivery from Prescott. The Cowboys outgained the Buccaneers¬† (363 yards to 280) and doubled Tampa Bay’s time of possession. But they were not able to convert many of their opportunities.

After the fourth quarter and final time, the Buccaneers won the match. They led by 2 points which helped them to gain a 31-29 win. A false start had robbed the Bucs of their final time out. Rob Gronkowski had bulldozed the defenders for a 20-yard gain. Tom Brady also connected with Chris Godwin on a back-shoulder throw for 24 yards. In the end, Ryan Succop converted the 36-yard field goal for the lead.

After returning from injury, Prescott was in his best form, He threw for 403 yards and 3 touchdowns on 42-of-48. But this couldn’t beat the Buccaneers. The defending champions and Tom Brady had more in the end, securing the win to the NFL season and defending their Super Bowl title. It was a very good showing for the Cowboys team. They were trying to establish their credentials as a contender, Brady also played great as he threw for 379 yards and 4 touchdowns

Both the teams played well. The cowboys were always trying to catch the Tampa Bays, but in the end, they failed. This led the Buccaneers to win their first NFL season match and boosted their confidence to defend the title.
