Match prediction

The Week 1 clash has kept the NFL fans at the edge of their seats… or sofas.

The Panthers will be eager to open the account and turn up with their best performance to honour their late assistance coach Greg Knapp.

The 58-year-old succumbed to injuries in a hospital after a car hit his bicycle near his residence in California. The incident that occurred on July 23 has left the Panthers’ camp as well as the entire NFL devastated.

While Robert Saleh will be poised to win the away fixture, the hosts are the firm favourites in this contest.

Shaq Thompson weighs in on Panthers’ defence

Shaq Thompson has transformed into a great leader for Carlina Panthers. The outside linebacker had a few words to say about the team’s defence in a recent interview.

“And I wanted us, since we’re a new team, to have that team camaraderie, to have that defensive camaraderie. The offence, you can mess up and have another down. The defence messes up, and it’s either a big play or a touchdown,” the 27-year-old affirmed.

Thompson believes that the key to success is playing as “brothers”.

“And I figure if we all know each other, get to know each other, and then you’re not just out there with someone you just met, like last year. . . Let’s play like brothers. I play for Burns, Burns plays for Jeremy Chinn, Chinn plays for A.J. Bouye, AJ plays for Bravvion Roy. As long as guys play for each other, this defence is going to be immaculate,” he added.

Sheldon Rankins is eager to make it big with Robert Saleh

Sheldon Rankins feels that the time he spent with the Saints has prepared him well enough to fit in perfectly with the game plan of newly-appointed head coach Robert Saleh.

The experience NFL star seems to be pleased with what Saleh is doing pre-season with the team.

“I’ve watched guys get more comfortable, you know, offensively, defensively, special teams. I’ve watched the competition. And I’ve watched what he’s really trying to breed, and it’s something special. Everyone’s buying in,” Rankins said.

“Everyone’s coming in every day with the mindset of, we’re not just here to, ‘Maybe we’ll do alright this year. Maybe not.’ No, guys are coming in ready to compete and really take this league by storm. And we’re hoping we can do so.”
