Nichols sets big goals for the coming season
Bilal Nichols posted career-best figures last season (16 starts, 40 tackles, 5.0 sacks and 7.0 tackles-for-loss). The 24-year-old has had a sublime off-season and he is ready to deliver the goods in the coming regular season.
The Bears defensive linesman joined the Bears in 2018 as the fifth-round pick on drafts.
When asked about the goals he has set for the coming season, Nichols said: “All-Pro and winning the Super Bowl. That’s just how I feel. That’s the type of standard I hold myself to each and every day.”
“I’m just trying to get better and better and continue to reach that ultimate level. I feel like if I can reach that level, it’ll help our team tremendously. That’s all I’m focused on right now.”
Nichols made it clear that this year is his year. He affirmed that he will give his maximum effort to win the Bears the Super Bowl title.
“I’m just focused on this year. I don’t really know. We’re just going to play it out and we’ll go from there. I’m just focused on winning the Super Bowl this year. All that stuff will take care of itself. You go out there, you play well, you bring a championship back here to Chicago, that’ll take care of itself,” the 24-year-old said.
Despite dreaming of lifting the coveted title, Nichols knows that the key to success lies in living in present.
He said: “I feel like if you are thinking about things in the future, you are messing up for yourself in the present. I try not to get caught up in all that.”
Will Tashaun Gipson make it big with Bears?
Tashaun Gipson Sr, who joined the Bears, has opened up about working with position coach Sean Desai. This is something, as Gipson puts it, that makes him work hard to achieve success for Desai.
He told the website interviewer: “It was countless hours of getting extra meeting times with him,” Gipson said. “All the way up and through from the time I signed to the beginning of the season, I would meet with Sean at 7 o’clock in the morning just to kind of get a grasp on the defence.
“The defence is a little complex, but Sean helped me all the way throughout the season.”
