The Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has recently been shipped over to an AFC team in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. Along with that, there have been growing rumors around the Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones.
We are just a day away from the 2021 NFL Draft, with trade rumors heating up around the league. There are so many teams who are vying to jump up a few spots in the draft. Without a doubt, we will get to see some trade action throughout the first night. There has already been a move the other day, and another possible one coming before the draft officially begins.
Teddy Bridgewater and The Denver Broncos
The move we are talking about was the trade that sent Teddy Bridgewater packing. He was flipped over to the Denver Broncos in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. For the Carolina Panthers, this move makes sense. The Panthers have just traded for Sam Darnold, who has yet to reach his true potential. Carolina is a team that has a ton of weapons across their offense that could allow Darnold to flourish. Maybe this is the year that he finally gets his name off that bust label that has plagued him the first few years in his NFL career.
Then on the other side, the Broncos receive a quarterback that is ready to start for them right away. Denver has struggled to find a starting quarterback to help lead their offense ever since Peyton Manning retired. Drew Lock has been the starter throughout the last two seasons but has just been wildly inconsistent. Bridgewater has the opportunity to compete during the offseason and potentially grab the starting position. He has performed well enough to garner a big contract the last few years, so the talent is already there. Now it is all a matter of putting the pieces together and trying to find the best fit offensively.
Julio Jones Rumors
But outside of this big Bridgewater trade, there was another NFC South player on the hot seat lately. The Atlanta Falcons have reportedly been shopping their superstar wide receiver, Julio Jones. The team has been in shambles ever since they choked that 28-3 lead that they had in the Super Bowl over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. While their offense has been great, their defense has been among the worst in league history. However, there have been questions over whether or not they will draft a defensive player. Atlanta has been connected to drafting Kyle Pitts with their first-round draft pick, to further bolster their offense. Though if happen to see a blockbuster Jones trade soon, they would most likely draft a defensive player.
It is worth mentioning though that the team will only consider a trade for Julio if their offer meets their demands and let me tell you their demands are going to be pretty high considering his talent levels. I wouldn’t expect him to be moved until the Draft finally kicks off. Although this rumor has picked up steam lately, they are just that. Jones could very well remain a Falcon past this draft.
