Match prediction

Houston Texans may not be one of the strongest NFL teams, but their record against the Jaguars speaks volumes of their dominance.

The Texans have not lost any game against the Jacksonville-based organisation since 2017. They have turned up their A-game every time the Jaguars met them regardless of the venue.

What gives the Texans a moral victory apart from the aforementioned record is the home advantage. There’s nothing better than opening the season with a game at home and that’s where Houston Texans are extremely lucky.

The Texans must grab an easy win to set the tone for the rest of the season.

Regardless of the Deshaun Watson scenario at Houston top-office, the hosts should live up to their hype and give home fans the victory they are expecting.

Player to keep an eye on – Trevor Lawrence

Being the No. 1 overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft makes people expect extraordinary performances from the player. Trevor Lawrence has been feeling the groove with the Jaguars in pre-season training.

While he’s young, he has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders being a quarterback.

Speaking to the media on Day 1 of 2021 Jaguars Minicamp, Lawrence said that he is contented with the team’s offence.

“Obviously, I still have a lot to learn. The more you practice something, the better you get at it. So, I still have to get a lot of reps. We still have some work to do. From a knowledge and memorization standpoint, I feel really good with the system.”

“I think it [the offence] is great. We’ve got a lot of answers. Now, it’s just working out all the little details to be a really good offence. We’re working toward that.”

Jaguars coach Urban Meyer has a similar belief for his team and he was all praise for the young QB.

He said”His (Lawrence’s) retention and carryover has been very good. Execution at times, like you, would imagine, has been up and down – especially when you start changing looks up on defence – which obviously didn’t happen a ton [during the offseason]. We’re very pleased with where he is.

“The summer’s going to be great and training camp is going to be great.”

Lawrence is coming off a gruesome injury from the past season. He and the coaching staff has been cautious throughout the training so that the injury doesn’t worsen and Lawrence can recover swiftly.
