Brussels Diamond League 2022: When and Where?
The Brussels Diamond League is the 12th meet of the season, taking place on Friday, 2 Sept. 2022. King Baudouin Stadium, a 50,000-seater giant in Brussels will provide the setting for the event.
The event is also named the Memorial van Damme to honor Ivo van Damme, a Belgian Olympic athlete who died in a car crash in 1976. The action will go underway with Men’s Pole Vault at 19:45 local time (GMT+2) and end with the exciting 800m men at 21:52.
Stars to Watch
The event is headlined by the 100m world champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica. She will face strong competition in women’s 100m in Shericka Jackson, the 200m world goal medal winner. Moreover, the event will feature the exciting American trio Sha’Carri Richardson, Tamara Clark, and Aleia Hobbs.
Eyes will be on Erriyon Knighton in the men’s 200m. The 18-year-old is the world bronze medalist. He has the season’s best record of 19.49 s, which broke the long-standing world under-20 record of Usain Bolt.
The home fans will be behind the two-time Olympic heptathlon champion Nafi Thiam of Belgium. She brings a lot of momentum, winning the heptathlon title at the European Championships in Munich.
