Weightlifting Preview and Results:
India have already clinched 6 medals in weightlifting including 3 gold medals. Chanu Saikhom Mirabai brought the first gold medal for India in weightlifting women’s 49kg category. Achinta Sheuli of India won the gold medal in the men’s 73kg category.
India’s third gold medal came with the hand of Jeremy Lalrinnuga in the men’s 67kg category. The 19-year-old set a Commonwealth record of 300kg, 140kg in the snatch and 160kg in the clean and jerk.
England has won silver and bronze medals so far in the women’s 59kg and 55kg. Jessica Gordon Brown won the silver and Fraer Morrow clinched bronze.
