World Games Medal 2022

The World Games is a multi-sports event supported by the International World Games Association. This year will be the 11th iteration of the event. It includes sporting disciplines that the Olympics do not include. The event was originally set for July 2021, but management moved it to 2022.

Finally, the event kicked off on July 7, 2022. This year, the event is hosted in Birmingham, Alabama. Around 3,600 participants from over 110 countries are participating in 206 events. Additionally, 17 events are running with invitationals. With a large ceremony, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin officially launched the event at the Protective Stadium.

Medals of the 2022 World Games

During a dramatic and extravagant opening event in 2022, the World Games announced its gold, silver, and bronze medals. Three Olympic and Paralympic medalists accompanied the unveiling ceremony at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

Before that, the committee showed a 30-second hype video featuring uplifting music and a fast-paced visual of the games’ sports. The video expressed a theme featuring the event, titled “Step Up”. With this, the USA started hosting the event for the first time.

Medal Won by Teams

Currently, 3,600 participants are competing in over 206 events. More games are nearing completion as the deadline approaches. Moreover, 61 national teams have already bagged one or more medals from the disciplines.

Germany is leading the event with the most amount of gold medals. They have earned 16 gold, 2 silver, and 9 bronze medals already. Hungary is sitting in second with 10 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze medals. Furthermore, the host country USA is sitting in 12th position. They have garnered 3 gold, 8 silver, and 4 bronze medals.

Whereas, counting total medals Italy is in the lead position with 36 medals. They have earned 8 gold, 16 silver, and 12 bronze medals. Surprisingly, Germany is holding the second position with 27 medals. Additionally, Ukraine is following them with 24 total medals. On the other hand, the host country United States placed 8th with a total of 15 medals.
