Despite representing New Zealand as a youngster and rising to No. 10 in the world, Norrie received only a few thousand dollars from Tennis New Zealand. Which forced his parents to cover the expense of his international travel. When he was fifteen, he embarked on a five-month journey across Europe.
At the Aegon Championships in 2017, Norrie made his ATP main-draw debut and defeated world No. 23 Roberto Bautista Agut to win his first Davis Cup match in Spain.
