WTA Tennis

The last WTA and ATP 1000 master tournament of that season Indian Wells 2021 just completed their journey. At the end of the day, we got our final champion of the tournament. Paula Badosa the Spanish superstar won the women’s single and Cameron Norrie the British celebrity won the men’s singles tournament.

It was the biggest title for both players. British tennis fans are very happy with their player’s performance. The British are winning all the titles in tennis in the recent big fight- the Laver Cup, US Open, and now BNP Paribas Open. Now they hold the strongest premier league clubs too. Who knows, they could win the Qatar world cup too!

Anyway, here we are to discuss the final match of Norrie And Badosa. So, let’s start.

Paula Badosa vs Victoria Azarenka:

It was one of the most thrilling matches in the history of tennis. Players fought for three hours and r minutes, the longest WTA singles final match of the year. Paula Badosa is the first Spaniard to win the BNP Paribas Open. Her countrymate tried for that position too but it was she that made things come true. It’s the second WTA singles title she earns this season and also the second in her career. The California Desert gave a great time to the Spaniards. She defeated four top 20 tennis stars on the California courts.

Badosa defeated Azarenka in 7-6(5), 2-6, 7-6(2) points. It was a really tough match Badosa against former number one. Azarenka gives a very hard time to Badosa. Azarenka dominated the first two rounds and made fewer mistakes than Badosa. But in the last round, the ultimate victory came to the Spaniard hands. Both players and fans were satisfied with their performance.

After the match, Badosa says, “I think it was a really tough match. I think it was a really good one as well because she played an amazing level. I think I had to rise [to a] high level every set. At the third set, I think I played my best. It was the only option if I wanted to win, so I’m really proud of it.”

And Azarenka posted on social media, “The entire match the quality of tennis was super high level. We were both going for our shots, really pushing each other to the max. That’s what made it super entertaining, that competitive spirit, really fighting for every ball, not giving in anywhere.”

Cameron Norrie vs Nikoloz Basilashvili:

Cameron Norrie won the biggest in his career on Sunday in the California Desert against Basilashvili. In the past BNP Paribas Open, Norrie was nobody. He wasn’t able to pass the second round. Now, in 2021, he showed his real capability. He became the first British man to win an Indian Wells title. Before Norrie, Ivan Ljubicic won the Indian Wells title from out of the top 25 ranks in 2010. Norrie breaks the single record of Ivan. He won the game against Basilashvili by 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 points. Sending back Basilashvili’s serve strongly helps Norrie to win the match.

After the game, Norrie says, “It means so much to me, my biggest title. I’m so happy, I can’t even describe it right now. It was a strange match today but absolutely massive for me and my team and I can’t believe it. If you would’ve told me I would have won the tournament before the tournament started, I wouldn’t believe you. So, it’s amazing.”
