Shelby Rogers hails from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, America. She is 29 years old, born on October 13, 1992. Her mother is Starley Gabrish, while her birth father is unnamed, and she hasn’t revealed any information about him.

However, her stepfather is Jim Gabrish, a former All-American football player. He has always supported and guided Shelby’s career. She has an older sister, Sabra Rogers, who influenced the beginning of her journey as an athlete.

The American talent started playing Tennis at the age of six. Coaches rapidly recognized her inherent talent, and she began competing nationally when she was eleven. Shelby was homeschooled through high school.

That made it easier for her to concentrate on her Tennis. She received various scholarship offers from the best colleges in the United States. Her Tennis idol while growing up was Steffi Graf.

She is renowned for her wins over top-ranked players such as Simona Halep (No.4) at the 2017 Australian Open and Ashleigh Barty (No. 1) at the 2021 U.S. Open.

She defeated Serena Williams (No. 9) at the 2020 Top Seed Open. With Victories at the 2020 Us Open, where she saved four match points, and at the 2016 French Open, Shelby is also unbeatable against Petra Kvitova, a two-time Wimbledon champion.

These two instances are the only times she made the quarterfinals at the major in her career. She has had her share of injuries setting her back a little.

Believing Rogers has what it takes to break into WTA’s top 20, Piotr started working with her in February 2022. Born in Nowy Dwor Gdanski, Poland, Piotr is 29 years old and has been a Pro Coach since January 2, 2016. He was a National Junior Player for Poland, but he stopped playing at 18 years old.

He has been a coach since the age of thirteen. He used to assist his sister, who was a talented junior Player. He began working as a hitting partner by the time he was 14 and put in 12-14 hours per week till he was hired at the age of 15 by a nearby tennis club.

His job was to assist with group and private instruction. Piotr believes that talking to instructors with more professional tour experience is vital. He is fluent in both English and Poland. Most importantly, the Polish National Association and Professional Tennis Registry accredited him professionally.

Before working with Shelby, he only coached Iga Swiatek. They started collaborating in 2016, and their contract ended in December 2021, making it five years. He led her to the Junior Wimbledon singles title in 2018. She also posted her first Top 100 season in 2019 under him(finishing at No.61). He led her to a career-high ranking of No. 17 after winning the 2020 Roland Garros trophy, becoming the first Polish player to win a major singles title.

Upon Shelby’s partnership with Piotr, she climbed to a new career-high position in the top 40. Under his tutelage, she also defeated world No. 9 Danielle Collins in the French Open to advance to the third round for the third time in her career. She eventually reached the top 30 in singles on August 8,  2022.

Bryan Minton

He coached Shelby in the hometown of Charleston, S.C., from 2001-2011,  a total of ten years. He was her first coach. They had to separate so she could advance her career as she turned pro. Bryan is the Director of Tennis and Co-Founder of the MWTennis Academy.

His achievements include coaching players to over 60 Belton State Qualifier titles and winning the S.C. Pro of the Year award 2015. As a sports trainer, he specializes in training players between the ages of eight and eighteen. Bryan guides his players through their junior careers to prepare them for college and beyond. Under Bryan, Shelby won the 18s National Championship and was named the USTA’s Junior Girl Player of the Year.

Shelby collaborated with Anderson from 2011-2014. She was training under the United States Tennis Association(UTSA). Anderson had the highest Association of Tennis Professionals Singles Ranking. He also played for Georgia Tech All- American in 2003.

He has coached notable players like Jennifer Brady, Nadia Petrova, Patty Schnyder, Martina Navratilova, and Nicole Gibbs. In the final $50K Yakima, Shelby defeated Samantha Crawford for her first International Tennis Federation (ITF) title while working with him. Shelby won her first International Tennis Federation (ITF) title at the $50K Yakima, defeating Samantha Crawford in the final.

After that, she defeated Marta Domachowska in the 2013 Internationales de Strasbourg opening round, earning her maiden victory on the WTA Tour. She also won $75k in Albuquerque after winning $50,000 in Lexington.

For the first time in her career, she played in all four grand slam main draws and also reached the third round of the U.S. Open for the first time under Anderson’s leadership. In 2014, after defeating Eugenie Bouchard in the second round of the Canadian Open, she made her first career top-ten win. She made her Top 100 debut, rising from No. 113 to No. 86.

They worked together from 2015 to 2017. The reason for their split is unknown. The 42years old pro coach earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Boston College in 2002, where he also played Division Tennis.

He attended one year of law school before delving into Tennis. He has previously coached Eugenie Bouchard, Nicole Gibbs, and Alison Riske-Amritraj. He was voted the Professional Tennis Registry Touring Coach of the Year.

While he was Shelby’s coach, she was the 2015 Bogota Doubles Runner-Up, 2016 Rio De Janeiro Runner-Up, and 2016 Roland Garros Quarterfinalist. He also helped her reach a career-high ranking of No. 48 in January 2017.

Matt Manasse

In 2018, Rogers had knee surgery that required a break. Her collaboration with Matt started in 2019 and ended in 2020. This was due to the pandemic. She returned to the top 60 rankings during his time as her coach. He has previously coached Jordan Belfort, Larry David, and Drew Brees. Matt is currently a Pickleball coach.
