Tournament Preview
This year marks the third edition of the tournament scheduled to take place from October 3-9 on indoor hard courts at the Ostrava Arena in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
This year’s US Open champion, World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, is the top seed in the tournament. She will aim for her eighth title this season, while Anett Kontaveit will appear to defend her title. The field will feature four Top-5 players in the world rankings.
Kontaveit won the title of the Ostrava Open last year. It took her to defeat Sorana Cirstea, Belinda Bencic, Paula Badosa, and Petra Kvitova to reach the final. She defeated Greece’s Maria Sakkari, 6–2, 7–5, in the final. It brought her second title of the year.
The Estonian professional tennis player ranked her career-best world No. 2 on the WTA rankings on 6 June 2022. It made her the highest-ranked Estonian player ever in history.
