Smith is without a clear timetable for a return and can be considered highly questionable for Game 2 on Wednesday. With the 30-year-old forward sidelined, Maddy Siegrist, Alysha Clark and Awak Kuier are candidates to see increased playing time.

Fudd has been sidelined since early August due to her ongoing right knee soreness, and she'll undergo a procedure that will ultimately end her rookie season. Across 30 regular-season appearances (24 starts) this year, she averaged 13.1 points, 1.8 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 31.7 minutes per game. In her absence, Odyssey Sims, Alanna Smith and Alysha Clark have seen increased roles, and that trend will likely continue down the stretch as the Wings compete for a playoff berth.

Verona is signed to a developmental contract, so she has only appeared in one regular-season game for Dallas during the 2026 campaign. She will now head overseas, where she will suit up for the Italian National Team for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup. It's unknown whether Verona will be back with the Wings, though her departure will allow the team to sign another player to a developmental deal.

It's an unfortunate turn of events for Sutton, who was also cut loose by the Fire earlier this year. Aziaha James should pick up a few extra minutes off the bench in the Dallas backcourt for the remainder of the season.
