Kim Chloe was born in Long Beach, California, on April 23, 2000. She grew up in the neighborhood of Torrance. She has two older siblings named Erica and Tracy. Her parents Jong Jin Kim and Boran Yun Kim are South Koreans.
Chloe’s father taught her snowboarding when she was only four at the Southern California resort of Mountain High. And she started competing two years later as a team member of Team Mountain High. She studied and trained in her 3rd and 4th grades in Geneva, Switzerland staying with her aunt. Later on, she came back to California and continued her training at Mammoth Mountain.
Chloe speaks French, Korean, and English fluently. Her father left his job to support his daughter when she competed and drove her to the mountains.

The first breakthrough of her career came back in 2014. After qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Kim was not allowed to participate due to being young, as there was an age limit to compete at the Winter Olympics.
Soon after, she came back determined to grab the silver medal at the 2014 Winter X Games. Determined to make amends, she won her first gold medal at the 2015 X Games and became the youngest gold medal winner in the history of the games.
