On January 24, 1990, Jim Knous was born in Basalt, Colorado. Jim received All-American honors at Colorado School of Mines and became runner-up at the National Championship in 2012. The same year, he turned his attention to professional golf.

Knous earned his first tour card in 2016. He started with the Korn Ferry Tour but lost to a playoff against Zac Blair at the Sand Hollow Open. Then in the 2018 season, he finished Korn Ferry Tour with 16 cuts in 23 starts. The season ended with him achieving a position top 10 in three tournaments. Following that, he finished the tour on 28th and secured his first PGA Tour card for the 2018-19 session.

Unfortunately, while participating in the 2019 PGA Tour, Knous suffered a heavy wrist injury. The injury took surgery and rehab to get better and he finally came back to play PGA Tour in January 2021.

In the 2021-22 season, Knous went on to complete his medical extension at Bermuda Championship and gained enough points to keep his PGA Tour card for next season. Currently, he is participating in the Canadian Open under his PGA Tour 2022 journey.
