Jiri Prochazka is a Czech professional mixed martial artist and former amateur Muay Thai kickboxer. He is currently competing in the Light Heavyweight division in the UFC.
Prochazka was born on October 14, 1992. His father died when he was 6. The martial artist was an amateur footballer and freestyle BMX rider in his youth. He first encountered mixed martial arts when his friend showed him videos of kickboxer Ramon Dekkers and mixed martial artists Mirko Filipovic and Fedor Emelianenko. The film Never Back Down inspired him to learn Thai boxing.
Prochazka’s professional MMA debut was in the Gladiator Fighting Championship in 2012. He won the GCF Light Heavyweight championship the following year.
