Luuk de Jong, a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a striker and captains Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven, was born on August 27, 1990.
Before signing with PSV in 2014, De Jong had previously played for DZC ’68, De Graafschap, Twente, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and Newcastle United.

In a 5-1 rout of Heerenveen on August 20, 2011, De Jong got his first Eredivisie goal of the 2011–12 campaign. De Jong scored twice more the following week, on his 21st birthday, as Twente crushed VVV Venlo 4-1.
On January 21, 2012, De Jong beat Waalwijk 2-0 by tapping in an open goal and scoring a penalty as Twente won 5-0. On January 29, Twente played Groningen.
De Jong scored a hat-trick, each goal coming after an assist from Ola John, and also assisted Leroy Fer. Twente won 4-1, moving up to second place in the league.
Career
After declaring it to be his desire to play in the Bundesliga, De Jong agreed to a five-year contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach on July 18, 2012, for a cost of €15 million (£12.6m).
De Jong said the Bundesliga was “a great place to develop as a player” eight months after the transfer. De Jong signed a loan deal with Premier League team Newcastle United on January 29, 2014, to last through the 2013–14 campaign.
On February 1st, he played in his first game against Sunderland in the Tyne-Wear derby. De Jong and PSV agreed to a five-year contract on July 12, 2014, for a sum of €5.5 million. De Jong claimed after his transfer to PSV that he regretted choosing to live in Germany.
