Magsayo began learning to box at only 8 years of age. Afterward, he made his amateur debut in 2010 when he was 15 years old. In that career, he had 200 bouts. He was 4-time amateur boxing champion at the annual Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) national tournaments, where claimed the title of “Best Boxer” twice.
