Opelka reached the quarterfinals of the Delray Beach Open at the Delre on the ATP World Tour, beating world number 8 Jack Sock in the second round to take the first top 10 wins of his growing career. His strong performance on the ATP Challenger Tour earned him his first top-100 final in singles, finishing at number 99 in the world. He defeated compatriot John Isner in the first round of the Australian Open, which was the second top 10 win of his career, where he defeated Isner again on his way to his first ATP title win in February.
