Sardar claims that he initially became interested in the game when he was nine years old and began kicking balls while on a family vacation in Turkmenistan.
His professional journey began in Oghab Gonbad of Gonbad-e Kavus. He also participated in volleyball and was allowed to join Iran’s national under-15 squad.

On February 26, 2015, Azmoun agreed to a three-and-a-half-month loan with FC Rostov of the Russian Premier League’s relegation-threatened side until the end of the current campaign.
Azmoun was selected by Carlos Queiroz to play for Iran’s national football team against Thailand on October 5, 2013.
He was one of five players dismissed from the final roster after being chosen by Queiroz for Iran’s 28-man provisional squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
