Sor Rungvisai comes from an impoverished family in Sisaket, Thailand. When he was 13, he moved to Bangkok to escape poverty. There he took work as a security guard in a shopping mall.

He would win 49 of his next 51 bouts and capture many championships, including the WBC-ABCO Super Flyweight Title, the WBC Silver Super Flyweight Title, two WBC Super Flyweight World Titles, and The Ring Super Flyweight World Title.
