Blundell is from the ancient Lancashire gentry family. He represented New Zealand Under-19s in the 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his first-class debut in 2013.
International Career
Tom Blundell made his international debut for New Zealand on 8 January 2017, with a T20I match against Bangladesh. He made his ODI debut on 5 February 2020, against India.
In January 2017, Blundell was added to New Zealand’s ODI squad as their wicket-keeper against Australia. He didn’t get to play any match in that series.
On 1 December 2017, Blundell made his Test debut for New Zealand against the West Indies. He scored 107 runs in his first Test innings as a debutant, becoming the first wicket-keeper since Matt Prior in 2007 to score a century.
In April 2019, Blundell was named in New Zealand’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup, but he didn’t play. He was also selected for the 2019-2021 ICC World Test Championship that New Zealand won.
