Bustos won the vacant IBF female lightweight title against Ana Esteche On 21 September 2013. She then retained the title five times by defeating Roxana Laborde, Natalia Aguirre, Claudia Lopez, Kimberly Connor, and Maria Capriolo. But she lost the title to WBA Champion Katie Tylor on 28 April 2018.
