Yeltsin Ignacio Tejeda Valverde, a professional football player from Costa Rica who was born on March 17, 1992, plays defensive midfield for both the Costa Rican national team and Liga FPD club Herediano, which he captains. For the CONCACAF U-17 Championship in 2009 and the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in 2011, Tejeda was chosen for Costa Rica’s team. 

He competed for his nation in the FIFA U-17 and U-20 World Cups in 2009 and 2011, respectively. Tejeda was chosen for the 26-man Costa Rican team that would compete in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in November 2022. He scored his first goal for Costa Rica on December 1 against Germany in a 4-2 loss in the final group stage match.

Career 

Tejeda started his professional career in 2011 with Saprissa, scoring one goal against San Carlos. Tejeda was selected as the team’s captain for the 2014 Verano campaign.

Tejeda flew to the UK to sign with Swansea City after Costa Rica’s World Cup campaign, but the club suspended the negotiations, thus Tejeda instead traveled to France. Tejeda signed a four-year deal with Evian, a Ligue 1 team at the time, on August 22, 2014. 

On September 19, 2014, against Bordeaux in a 2-1 loss, he netted his first goal for the team.

Tejeda was joined by David Ramrez, a fellow countryman, and former Saprissa teammate, during the winter transfer window. At the end of the season, the team was demoted to Ligue 2.

Tejeda signed a three-year contract with Swiss club Lausanne-Sport in July 2016. Tejeda signed with Herediano and went back to Costa Rica in January 2019. In October 2021, he agreed to a two-year contract deal with the team.
