Alabama is evaluating cornerback Zabien Brown and running back EJ Crowell for lower-leg injuries as it prepares to host Texas A&M, coach Kalen DeBoer said Monday.
The update leaves the Crimson Tide monitoring key players on both sides of the ball after a 26–10 loss at Tennessee, with additional starters still working through injuries.
Saturday Down South reported that DeBoer planned to evaluate Brown throughout the week. Crowell’s status also remained under assessment, with neither player given a confirmed game designation.
Both players left the Tennessee game in the second quarter. Brown later returned to the sideline in street clothes, while Crowell remained in uniform without reentering the contest.
Their availability matters for different reasons. Crowell is averaging 6.8 yards per carry this season, while Brown leads Alabama with four passes defended, according to Saturday Down South.
The injuries add to a list that already includes receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, center Racin Delgatty and nose tackle Terrance Green. All three missed the trip to Tennessee.
In Alabama Crimson Tide On SI’s account of Monday’s briefing, DeBoer said he did not expect Coleman-Williams to practice throughout the week, leaving later evaluation important.
ESPN’s Katie George had reported before the Tennessee kickoff that the receiver underwent arthroscopic surgery for a meniscus injury. Monday’s comments did not establish a firm return date.
Delgatty was injured late in the October 10 loss to Georgia and subsequently missed the Tennessee game. DeBoer described the center as progressing but still week to week.
Green is also week to week after aggravating an existing injury against Georgia. His absence leaves another unresolved personnel question as Alabama begins preparations for its next SEC opponent.
Bama247’s report likewise detailed the five-player injury list. The concerns span receiving, the offensive line, running back, the defensive front and the secondary rather than one position group.
The immediate distinction is between evaluation and clearance. Monday’s update confirmed ongoing assessments, but it did not announce that Brown or Crowell would be available against the Aggies.
Alabama now has the practice week to assess how those players progress. For the longer-standing absences, DeBoer’s week-to-week descriptions also leave the timing of their returns unresolved.
Alabama’s official schedule lists Texas A&M for October 24 at 2:30 p.m. Central. An open weekend follows before the November 7 trip to LSU.
That makes Saturday the next test of Alabama’s available depth. The Crimson Tide must prepare for the Aggies while determining which injured contributors can return to the lineup.
