Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz scored late as Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 4–2 at Parc des Princes on October 20, overcoming two equalizers in the Champions League.

Cadena SER’s match report confirmed the result as PSG maintained their perfect league-phase start. Barcelona’s first defeat of the season leaves them preparing for El Clásico.

The decisive spell followed Lamine Yamal’s 79th-minute equalizer. Barcelona had recovered to 2–2, but the hosts restored their lead two minutes later.

Vitinha made it 3–2 in the 81st minute before Ruiz added the fourth in the 86th, according to Barcelona’s official scoring timeline.

The timing transformed the closing stages. Instead of protecting parity after Yamal’s intervention, Hansi Flick’s side quickly found itself chasing the game again.

CNN Brasil described Vitinha collecting the ball near the edge of the penalty area after Barcelona cleared a right-sided cross, then striking right-footed past Joan Garcia.

Ruiz’s goal gave PSG a two-goal cushion for the first time. The four home scorers were Désiré Doué, Lucas Hernández, Vitinha and Ruiz.

Doué had opened the scoring in the 38th minute, giving Luis Enrique’s team a 1–0 halftime lead. Barcelona’s response came after the break.

Xavi Espart equalized in the 55th minute, before Hernández put PSG ahead again in the 72nd. Yamal’s goal then briefly restored Barcelona’s hopes of taking a point.

That second recovery lasted only until Vitinha’s intervention. Barcelona twice erased a one-goal deficit but never led during the six-goal match.

Joan Garcia’s first-half saves kept Barcelona within reach, Cadena SER reported. The goalkeeper’s work prevented PSG from building an earlier cushion.

The result takes PSG to nine points from three league-phase fixtures. Barcelona remains on six after winning its opening two matches, UOL reported.

Both clubs had arrived with strong European scoring records. PSG’s official pre-match preview listed wins of 6–1 against Slovan Bratislava and 4–2 away to Manchester City.

Barcelona’s opening victories were 5–1 against Feyenoord and 4–1 against Galatasaray. The defeat in Paris ended that winning start rather than eliminating Flick’s side.

PSG has scored 14 goals and conceded five across its opening three league-phase fixtures. Barcelona’s corresponding totals are 11 scored and six conceded.

PSG started João Neves, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz in midfield, while Barcelona’s announced eleven included Marc Bernal and Pedri alongside Dani Olmo.

The fixture was Matchday 3 of the league phase, with Michael Oliver refereeing. It was a single league-phase encounter, rather than a two-legged knockout tie.

Domestic fixtures come next on October 25: PSG hosts Lyon, while Barcelona faces Real Madrid, according to UOL’s post-match report.
