Chelsea Green will defend the WWE Women’s Championship against Roxanne Perez on Friday’s SmackDown, with the result potentially changing the women’s champion-versus-champion matchup at WWE Crown Jewel.
The October 23 episode airs from Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. Two women’s championship matches and a Street Fight are among the four bouts WWE has announced.
Green enters with a possible meeting against Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan ahead of her, but WWE’s official preview makes clear that Perez’s title challenge comes first on SmackDown.
Perez already owns a recent non-title victory over Green. She pinned the champion on Raw two weeks ago, with Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez interfering during that encounter.
That history gives Friday’s match an immediate storyline beyond a routine defense. Perez has beaten Green, but this meeting offers the championship that their earlier contest did not.
Green answered that setback on Monday’s Raw, teaming with IYO SKY to defeat Perez and Rodriguez. The rivals now return to singles action with Green’s championship at stake.
Morgan’s involvement also connects the challenger to Green’s potential Crown Jewel opponent. Perez represents The Judgment Day, adding another layer to the title match, as AIPT’s preview notes.
A Green victory would preserve her place in the advertised championship picture. A Perez win would change the titleholder and place Morgan’s stablemate in possession of the belt.
WWE has raised the possibility of further Judgment Day involvement in its preview. That remains a storyline question for the broadcast, rather than an announced ringside appearance or outcome.
Perez brings substantial championship experience from NXT, where she held the women’s singles title twice and also won the women’s tag team championship before moving to Raw.
Her WWE profile also credits her with the inaugural Women’s Breakout Tournament and Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge victories, milestones that preceded her arrival on the main roster.
Green’s own title history includes the women’s tag team championship and two reigns as Women’s United States Champion. Friday’s defense continues a run across several different women’s divisions.
The other championship match pairs Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley against Michin and B-Fab. WWE identifies Bliss and Paxley as the new women’s tag team champions entering the show.
The match is their first defense of those titles, according to NDTV’s broadcast preview, giving the new partnership an immediate test against two challengers seeking to end its reign.
Giulia and Blake Monroe will meet in a Street Fight after months of confrontations. Monroe defeated Giulia in her in-ring SmackDown debut on October 2, establishing the rematch’s background.
The MFTs will also face Bakusai in a non-title tag team match. Haku backs the champions as they again take on Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki on SmackDown.
That distinction separates their match from the two women’s championship contests. The MFTs’ tag team titles are not scheduled to change hands, regardless of who wins the announced bout.
The televised episode begins at 8 PM ET on USA Network in the United States. Netflix carries SmackDown in selected international markets, with availability depending on the viewer’s location.
Green-Perez supplies the clearest championship consequence: the winner leaves with the WWE Women’s Title, while the result could reshape the road toward Morgan and WWE Crown Jewel.
