Dustin Glenn Poirier is an American professional mixed martial artist and philanthropist. He was born on January 19, 1989. His nickname is ‘The Diamond’. Dustin Glenn Poirier is an American mixed martial artist (MMA) whose success of career start in 2009.

He is in rank 6 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings where he has positioned 1 in the UFC lightweight rankings as of June 13, 2021. Poirer is the beast and best name the sport has ever seen. He became the interim UFC lightweight champion early this year at UFC 236 with a victory featherweight champion Max Holloway. Poirer’s nationality is American and he belongs to a Christian family.

Early life:

From a very young age, Dustin had always shown his passion for fighting and simply like the competition. In his teenage years, he started training boxing before transitioning to MMA. Within six months of starting to train he fought his first fight in his MMA career competing on small and local shows. This boy has faced a relentless 31 fights journey towards the top. As a world-renowned MMA fighter, Dustin Poirier came from an indigent family. His parents were separated when he was only  5  and he stayed with his mother and his two brothers. He dabbled in wrestling and fighting. For this reason, he was expelled from his school when he was in 8th grade and thus his mother shifted him to another school. He somehow made it to the 9th grade but spent a bigger part of this year in juvenile detention and boot camp and for this, he never gets back to his school. He felt suffocated in school.

After dropping out of school, he was just another 16-year-old who has no aim in life. He used to drank with friends and smoked weed. But all this got changed when he turned 18. Fighting made him think about his career and he used to go to the gym for training and committed to boxing.

In 2006, when he started, MMA people at that time used to think MMA is not that kind of real sport. He stopped meeting his bad friends, and within 6 months of training, he had booked his first MMA fight. By 2009, this skilled fighter had turned a good one and was facing some big names in the industry and coming out on top. In 2010, he beat Josh Grispi and won by unanimous decision.

In 2011, he defeated Jason Young, a newcomer, after just 3 rounds again by unanimous decision. He got back-to-back success. On17th September 2014 got his first knockout loss to Conor McGregor in a fight that was trending on social media. But above all, he is back now to fight Poirier on January 23rd, 2021.
