Career

Norbert Gombos started his tennis career on the ITF Futures tour. In 2011, in Teplice, Czech Republic, he won his first title. Between 2010 and 2012, he also got to six other finals but lost all of them.

In 2012, he played his first match on the ATP Challenger Tour in Marburg, Germany. There, he made it to the semifinals. 

His second Challenger title was in Poprad-Tatry, Slovakia, where he beat Horacio Zeballos in the final. He qualified for his first Grand Slam main draw at the French Open but lost to David Ferrer. 

For the first time in 2020, he reached the third round of the French Open, his best Grand Slam performance. As well as reaching the second round at the US Open, he qualified for two ATP Masters 1000 events, reaching the third round in Paris and the first round in Cincinnati.

As a Challenger champion in 2021, he defeated Federico Gaio in the final and reached two more Challenger finals, losing all three. He qualified for three Grand Slam main draws that year but lost in the first round at each.

His sixth Challenger title came in Koblenz, Germany in 2022, as he defeated Daniel Masur in the final. At the Australian Open, he advanced to the second round for the first time. He qualified for two ATP Tour events that year but lost in the first round.

He has played four ATP Tour events so far in 2023, but has not won any matches. As of June 12, he is ranked 150 on the ATP Tour.
