Career

Radu Albot started his journey in 2008 on the ITF Futures circuit. From 2008 to 2014, he won 14 singles titles and 7 doubles titles.

He also played on the ATP Challenger Tour between 2010 and 2019, winning seven singles and ten doubles titles. In 2015, he broke through on the ATP World Tour when he and Dusan Lajovi won their first doubles win at the Istanbul Open.

As part of his biggest career win, Albot won the Delray Beach Open in 2019 to become the first Moldovan to win an ATP singles title.

He beat Ivo Karlovi, Nick Kyrgios, Steve Johnson, Mackenzie McDonald, and Dan Evans on his way to the title. He reached the playoffs at Geneva, Los Cabos, and Chengdu in August 2019, when his career high was 39.

Albot won two of his four singles matches at the inaugural ATP Cup in 2020 against Fabio Fognini and John Millman for Moldova.

As well as reaching the third round of the Australian Open for the first time, he lost to David Goffin. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, he ended the year with a win-loss record of 10-15.

Albot reached his second-round appearance at a Grand Slam event in 2021 when he defeated Roberto Bautista Agut in five sets at the Australian Open before losing to Casper Ruud. At the Singapore Open, he reached the semifinals for the first time in 19 months but lost to Alexander Bublik. 

At the Delray Beach Open in 2019, Albot won the most important match of his career. He became the first player from Moldova to win an ATP singles title.
