The 2025/2026 Premier League season has entered a decisive phase, with just seven to eight games remaining. At this point, it’s a two-horse race between Arsenal and Manchester City.
But with the Gunners’ 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday, and City’s draw at Westham, it is increasingly likely that they could finally get their hands on the EPL trophy, after finishing as runners-up for the past three seasons.
In fact, several sportsbooks and casino instant betting platforms have adjusted their Premier League winner odds in Arsenal’s favour.
But then, beyond the fight for first place, the race for European qualification is also incredibly tight.
Manchester United, Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Liverpool are all gunning for Champions League spots, with just six points between third-placed United and seventh-placed Chelsea.
The bottom half of the league has also been a little interesting, most especially with Tottenham battling relegation.
With so much still to play for, in this article, we will turn our focus to the biggest question of all: who will win the Premier League title? Let’s dive right in!

Exactly as they have done for the past three Premier League (PL) seasons, Arsenal once again sit in the top two after their 31st game.
But just as it has happened before, there is still a chance for Pep Guardiola’s side, who you can never really write off in a title race.
It will, however, be difficult to see Manchester United, Liverpool, and Aston Villa as genuine contenders.
But still, Villa and United definitely deserve some credit; Villa for maintaining the impressive level they showed last season, and United for building up from their 15th-place finish last year, despite their less-than-ideal start to this campaign.
Perhaps the most impressive team this season has been Sunderland. The newly promoted side has surprisingly held its own in the PL and currently sits in 13th place.
Tottenham has also been surprising, if surprising is the right word for performing way below expectations. They finished 17th last season and are currently 16th.
Top Contenders for the 2025–26 Title
As mentioned earlier, this title race has effectively narrowed down to two clubs, while United, Villa, and Liverpool are realistically competing for the remaining Champions League spots rather than the title itself. Here is a closer look at each of them:
Arsenal and Manchester City (Main Title Contenders)
Arsenal
Arsenal have been everything a title-winning team needs to be this season. They’ve been consistent, clinical, and difficult to beat.
They have won 7 of their last 10 PL games, winning their last four. They have also scored the most goals while conceding the least.
One of the major keys to their success so far has been their well-drilled defensive structure with Saliba, Gabriel, and Jurrien Timber at the heart of it, and of course, David Raya, who is definitely in line to win the Golden Glove.
The likes of Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi have also been crucial pieces in the midfield.
Recently, Arsenal have been linked with strengthening their defense further, as they are reportedly in talks to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba, which could bolster their backline even more.
Manchester City
By their usual standards, Manchester City have not been particularly impressive this season.
They’ve only won five of their last 10 games, drawing their last two. But then, they can still pull a comeback on Arsenal.
Like other teams apart from Arsenal and Brentford, they have played 30 premier league games. As always, a key part of their performance so far has been Haaland, who currently tops the top scorer chart with 22 goals.
Players like Phil Foden, who has produced 7 EPL goals and 3 assists, and Rayan Cherki, with 3 goals and 8 assists, have also been crucial.
Manchester United
It would be easy to overlook Manchester United in the context of this season’s title race, but what they have achieved, despite their rough start with Ruben Amorim, deserves real recognition.
Coming off a shocking 15th-place finish last season, United has completely turned things around. And of course, all credit for this turnaround would easily go to Michael Carrick, who has won seven of nine games since replacing Amorim.
Bruno Fernandes as always, has also been a key part of the team’s performance, topping the league’s assist chart with 16 assists to go along with seven goals.
The attacking trio of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Šeško has also played an important role going forward, while Casemiro’s presence in midfield has helped provide balance and stability to the side.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa deserve enormous credit for what they have produced this season. They may not have the star power of big names like Chelsea, Liverpool, and United, but with Unai Emery behind the wheel, they are earning the right to be mentioned alongside the league’s top team.
Last season, they finished sixth, and the one before that fourth. With players like Morgan Rogers, who has scored 13 goals, Ollie Watkins, who continues to be the focal point of the attack, and Emiliano Martínez, who remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world, they are currently fourth on the table.
And even though their form is a little off, losing their last three games, they may eventually lock in a UCL spot.
Of course, much of the credit for Villa’s performance goes to Emery himself. The Spaniard has turned Villa into one of the most tactically intelligent sides in the division, building a team that is hard to break down, difficult to outrun, and surprisingly clinical from range.
Most especially, they have been one of the best second-half teams in premier league matches this season.
Liverpool
For the defending champions, this season has been something of a reality check. Arne Slot’s side came into the campaign as favorites to retain the title, but has struggled to recapture the form that saw them win it last year.
Their home draw against 16th-placed Tottenham and results like the 2-1 loss to bottom-placed Wolves show their inconsistency so far this season.
That inconsistency has made it difficult for even their best players to build real momentum. Most notably, Mohamed Salah has managed only 5 goals and 6 assists, which are well below his standards.
There are, however, positives with Hugo Ekitike, their standout summer signing, who has delivered 11 Premier League goals. Ryan Gravenberch has also been excellent.
Key Matches That Could Decide the Title
The season is not over. There are still a number of epl matches that can decide the league, especially the ones involving Arsenal and City.
Some of these major title-deciding prem games include:
- Arsenal vs. Manchester City
- Chelsea vs. Manchester City
- Manchester City vs. Aston Villa
- Arsenal vs. Newcastle United
Arsenal vs. Manchester City (The Biggest Game): 19th April
According to different prem predictions, this one fixture could define the entire title race. If Arsenal wins, they extend their lead back to 12 points and would essentially have one hand firmly on the trophy.
A draw keeps the status quo and likely means the title stays in Arsenal’s hands, given the fixtures that follow. But if City wins, it’ll immediately put Arsenal under pressure, which historically, they’ve always struggled coping.
Chelsea vs. Manchester City: 12th April
City will play this game right before the Arsenal game. Chelsea, who will most likely be fighting for a UCL spot, will need all the points they can get. So, they’ll definitely put up a strong fight to at least get a draw. But then, City needs a win to stay in the race.
Manchester City vs. Aston Villa: 24th May
According to some UK football predictions, this is another crucial game because Villa is also fighting for a UCL spot. It’s going to be the last game of the season for City, and if the league is still open by then, it may be a decisive game.
Arsenal vs. Newcastle: 25th of April
Coming immediately after the Manchester City showdown, this game represents a massive physical and mental test. Newcastle is a dangerous side, and a fatigued Arsenal, whether celebrating a big win or recovering from a painful defeat, could be vulnerable here.
Other Matches That Could Affect Things Indirectly
Beyond the direct title contenders, there are a couple of other fixtures that could also have little but meaningful impact on how the table looks come May. These include:
- Manchester United vs. Liverpool: Not a title decider in the traditional sense, but a result here could shake up the top-four picture significantly. Both teams are fighting to secure Champions League football.
- Aston Villa vs. Liverpool: This is another crucial game for both sides in their fight for European qualification.
Surprise Teams That Could Challenge
There is no such thing as a guaranteed England Premier League prediction. Any team, on any given weekend, is capable of causing an upset, and that unpredictability is a big part of what makes this league so compelling to watch.
But beyond the general chaos, there are certain sides whose form, tactics, and momentum will make them particularly dangerous this season being in its final stretch. They include:
- Sunderland: They are currently 13th in the league despite being a newly promoted side. This season, they beat Chelsea and drew with Arsenal, Liverpool, and City. Although neither City nor Arsenal will face them again this season, they’ll still face United and Chelsea, and so they can still influence the top 4.
- Brentford: Currently 7th in the league, Brentford have been a constant headache for the league’s bigger sides this season. For example, they recently held league leaders Arsenal to a 1–1 draw, and they still have a game against Manchester City, which could influence the title. The team is also competing for a Europa League spot, so they’ll surely be taking the remainder of the season extra seriously.
- Newcastle United: Even though Newcastle had a difficult middle stretch to their season, they’re still a major threat. As mentioned earlier, they still have a game against Arsenal, which could also alter the league’s dynamics.
- AFC Bournemouth: Bournemouth may not be winning games for fun, but they are doing something arguably more frustrating. They are simply refusing to lose, with 12 draws. Perhaps they are the ones who will influence the title the most, as they still have games against City and Arsenal.
- Brighton: Another dangerous team. With three wins from their last five matches, they’re actively trying to climb up to European qualification. Any team in the way of that will definitely find it difficult. And these include Chelsea, United, and Liverpool.
Predictions by Analysts and Statistical Models
At the start of the season, most pundits and the Opta Supercomputer, which is the most popular tool in England prediction, actually picked Liverpool to defend their title.
But now, Premier League March Predictions and analysis have shifted in favour of Arsenal, especially after City’s draw to West Ham on Saturday.
Most notably, Opta’s supercomputer now has Arsenal at 97.46% chance of winning the league. And conversely, the odds of City winning have plummeted across several sportsbooks.
In fact, Opta specifically picked Arsenal to finish the season with approximately 84 to 85 points, while Manchester City is projected to finish around 74 to 76 points.
But then, although the data heavily favours Arsenal, City has a history of mounting successful late chases, with long winning streaks. But with their inconsistency so far, it’s difficult to say certainly that they’ll win every epl matches today.
How Upcoming Premier League Matches Affect the Title Race
At the moment, Arsenal has seven more games to play, while City has eight. Apart from the game against City, which will be the most decisive of all, Arsenal still has to face two other top-half teams, Bournemouth and Newcastle. City, on the other hand, will still face top-half teams like Chelsea, Everton, Aston Villa, Brentford, and Bournemouth.
Here’s a table that shows different scenarios for the remaining games for both Arsenal and City:
Arsenal (70 points)
| Match | Win | Draw | Loss |
| vs Bournemouth (H) | 73 | 71 | 70 |
| vs Man City (A) | 76 | 72 | 70 |
| vs Newcastle (H) | 79 | 73 | 70 |
| vs Fulham (H) | 82 | 74 | 70 |
| vs West Ham (A) | 85 | 75 | 70 |
| vs Burnley (H) | 88 | 76 | 70 |
| vs Crystal Palace (A) | 91 | 77 | 70 |
Manchester City (61 points)
| Match | Win | Draw | Loss |
| vs Chelsea (A) | 64 | 62 | 61 |
| vs Arsenal (H) | 67 | 63 | 61 |
| vs Burnley (A) | 70 | 64 | 61 |
| vs Everton (A) | 73 | 65 | 61 |
| vs Brentford (H) | 77 | 66 | 61 |
| vs Bournemouth (A) | 80 | 67 | 61 |
| vs Aston Villa (H) | 83 | 68 | 61 |
| vs Crystal Palace (H) | 86 | 69 | 61 |
If City wins every single remaining game, they’ll have a maximum of 86 points. In this case, Arsenal needs five wins and a draw to win the league. So, despite the current nine-point game, the race is still tight.
