The Butterfield Bermuda Championship will have no play Sunday after high winds and rain prevented the final round from starting at Port Royal Golf Course.

Austin Smotherman and Seamus Power remain tied at 16 under through three rounds, with officials still assessing whether Monday’s weather will allow the tournament to continue.

Wind gusts exceeded 40 mph in Southampton, Reuters reported. The postponement leaves the championship unfinished, with no confirmed final-round restart time in the latest announcement.

Organizers said conditions had not improved and were expected to deteriorate further, according to Bernews’ updated report. That prompted the decision to abandon Sunday’s planned play.

Further information about play on Monday, October 26, is due no later than 5 p.m. Bermuda time Sunday, equivalent to 4 p.m. Eastern in the United States.

That deadline is for another announcement, rather than a scheduled resumption. Players and spectators are awaiting confirmation of the next step before any revised tee times.

The disruption followed an earlier effort to avoid the worst weather. Organizers had moved the final-round starts forward, The Royal Gazette reported, but high winds intervened.

The course remained closed during the initial delay while PGA Tour and tournament officials monitored conditions. The later announcement ruled out any competitive play Sunday.

Players had been scheduled in threesomes from split tees, starting at 6:45 a.m. Eastern, according to GOLF’s report. The early arrangement ultimately could not overcome the forecast.

Tee times were first pushed back by an hour before the day was called off. The final round therefore remains unstarted, rather than partially completed.

Power’s Saturday 67 helped him catch Smotherman at the top of the leaderboard. Both players reached a three-round total of 197 despite difficult conditions at Port Royal.

The leaders had already dealt with wind during the third round. Sunday’s worsening conditions have now interrupted their opportunity to settle the title on the course.

Taylor Moore, Corey Conners and Ben Silverman finished Saturday two strokes behind at 14 under, keeping a group of challengers within reach before the weather interruption.

For now, the leaderboard reflects only the completed three rounds. Neither co-leader has been declared champion, and officials have not confirmed a Monday finish or restart.
