Born on January 22, 1990, in Nice, France, Alizé Cornet began playing tennis at the age of four.

She joined the French Tennis Federation’s training program at ten and turned professional in 2006. In 2008, she won her first WTA title in Budapest.

She reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 11 in February 2009 and a career-high doubles ranking of No. 59 in March 2011.

Cornet was born to Francis and Patricia Cornet, who are now retired. Her brother, Sébastien, is also a tennis player. She graduated from the Lycée Thierry Maulnier in Nice in 2008. Cornet is fluent in French, English, and Italian.

Cornet was inspired to play tennis by Monica Seles and Martina Hingis. She started her tennis career at the Nice Lawn Tennis Club, then moved to the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in Paris.

She won multiple national and international junior titles, including the 2007 French Open, defeating Mariana Duque Mario in the final.
