Horschel was born on December 7, 1986, in Grant, Florida. He attended the University of Florida with an athletic scholarship. Under coach Buddy Alexander’s Florida Gators men’s golf team, he played in NCAA from 2006 to 2009. Horschel was a four-time All-American, including three first-team honors and SEC player of the year for 2007 and 2009.
At the 2006 U.S. Amateur, Horschel won the individual medalist honor. He also played in the 2006 U.S. Open, but unfortunately missed the cut.
