Elias Ymer was born on April 10, 1996, in Skara, Sweden, to Ethiopian immigrant parents. His mother, Kelem, is a doctor, and his father, Wondwosen, works at a dairy company. He began playing tennis at the age of four and was coached by his father until he was 12 years old.

Early Life

Ymer grew up with his parents and two younger brothers, Mikael and Rafael, who all liked to play tennis. When he was four, his parents taught him how to play the sport and pushed him to keep doing what he loved. From a young age, he had a lot of skill and potential, and he won several junior tournaments in Sweden and other countries.
