With the men’s football global tournament only a few weeks away, World Cup betting odds 2026 statistics reveal England as the third most likely to win the tournament, behind France and Spain, which currently hold the first and second positions respectively.

Country Odds Bet $10 to win
France +475 $58 total
Spain +500 $60 total
England +650 $75 total

Unlike France, which is a two-time winner of the World Cup with a more recent win in 2018, England’s only trophy was in 1966, when they defeated Germany in a 4-2 match. In the 2022 World Cup, England finished 6th overall after dropping out in the quarter-finals.

France, however, was able to reach the finals, led by top striker Kylian Mbappe. Although the Lionel Messi-led Argentina team proved too competitive to beat and France ended up losing on penalties.

For the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup, England’s representative team will be led by Thomas Tuchel, one of the world’s top football managers.

Tuchel has a historic record as manager at PSG, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich. In the 620 games Tuchel has overseen as coach, his team has made a total of 365 wins.

Looking into how the team could perform in the upcoming global football tournament, pre-world cup matches have been quite encouraging. Tuchel’s England team won against Albania, Latvia, and Serbia in the World Cup qualification matches.

However, in more recent international friendlies, England lost to Japan 0-1 and tied with Uruguay at 1-1.

Fans are concerned the 52-year old German manager may have made several high-profile omissions from his England selection. Tuchel’s 26-man team does not include star players like Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Alexander Arnold, and Harry Maguire. The players who made England’s 2026 World Cup squad include:

  • Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, James Trafford
  • Defenders: Reece James, Djed Spence, Nico O’Reilly, Marc Guéhi, John Stones, Ezri Konsa, Dan Burn, Jarell Quansah, Tino Livramento
  • Midfielders: Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Jude Bellingham, Kobbie Mainoo, Jordan Henderson, Eberechi Eze, Morgan Rogers
  • Forwards: Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, Anthony Gordon, Noni Madueke, Ivan Toney

Speaking on the selection, the coach acknowledged the nomination was a tough process but believed the selection was just right.

“They all deserve their place. The squad and everyone involved with the team will give all we can to make the country proud,” said Tuchel.

The team’s captain, Harry Kane currently playing for FC Bayern, is now the club’s seventh top scorer, overtaking Robben and Hoeneß after scoring 146 goals in 147 games.

According to Thomas Tuchel, Harry Kane is the best striker in the world after working closely with the top forward at Bayern.

Harry Kane, John Stones and Jordan Pickford will be playing their third world cup alongside Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka who will all be at their second World Cup.

Aside from Jordan Henderson who will be playing his 4th world cup, the remaining 18 players will be making their debut at the World Cup tournament.

The squad will travel to Florida to their prep camp in Palm Beach, ahead of the tournament and friendlies scheduled against New Zealand and Costa Rica.

After the two warm-up fixtures set to hold on June 6 and 10 respectively, the whole group will then head to the team’s permanent tournament base in Kansas City.

Five more players will be joining the Three Lions for the international friendlies, although only four have been confirmed.

“We will take some young players out who will train with us and keep the squad at the size we need…,” Tuchel explained.

Some of the young players confirmed to be joining the squad to train include Alex Scott, Rio Ngumoha and Josh King. Jason Steele will also travel with the team as a training goalkeeper.

England’s attempt at breaking their 60-year World Cup trophy drought will start with a Group L scheduled match against Croatia in Dallas on June 17. Next up, the Three Lions will face Ghana in Boston on June 17 and finally go up against Panama in New Jersey on June 27.

Due to the expanded team structure from 32 to 48, if England win Group L fixtures, they will proceed to first play a Round 32 match before the traditional Round of 16.

For now the chances of England winning the World Cup are at 12 to 15% implied odds across various sportsbooks.
