About Peyton Stearns
Peyton Stearns was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 8, 2001. She graduated from Mason High School in 2019 and played two seasons of college tennis at the University of Texas at Austin.
In the spring of 2022, she became the first Texas athlete to win the NCAA Division I Women’s Singles National Championship.
She turned professional in June 2022 and signed with Octagon Sports Management.
Early Life
She is the daughter of two doctors, Scott and Kelly Stearns. Her two older sisters, Sydney and Lauren, are both tennis players. She dreamed of becoming a professional tennis player as a child, idolizing Serena Williams and Roger Federer. She was a standout junior player who won numerous national and international titles, including the 2019 USTA Girls’ 18 National Clay Court Championships. She has represented the United States in the Junior Fed Cup in 2017 and 2018.
Career
Peyton Stearns made her WTA Tour main draw debut in 2021 at the Silicon Valley Classic, where she was an alternate in the doubles main tournament. She made her Grand Slam debut as a wildcard at the 2022 US Open, losing to No. 11 seed Belinda Bencic in the first round.
She made her first WTA Tour singles final in April at the Copa Colsanitas in Bogota, Colombia. There she defeated No. 2 seed Tamara Zidanek in the quarterfinals before losing to No. 1 seed Sara Sorribes Tormo in the final.
